This petition is in response to the death of some 30 equines and the inadequate welfare standards of the surviving equines kept by a Horse trader based in Amersham,  Buckinghamshire, England
The Equine Industry Welfare Guideline Compendium published in 2002 states:
"No aspect of horse ownership is more important than ensuring the horses' health and welfare. Owners and keepers of horses have a moral and legal responsibility to care for them to ensure their physical and mental well being."
In the light  of the Amersham Horses in Buckinghamshire as reported in the news on the 9th of January 2008, current legislation for the protection of equines is inadequate.
